A Sherpa Shephard Boy
Life in rural Nepal is hard. We met this young Sherpa boy at 14,000'. He had just spent the monsoon tending the family's livestock in the high altitude pastures with his two brothers. As winter was approaching, they were preparing to move to lower ground.

Janakpur Mandir
While a diversity of religions thrive in Nepal, the Hindu majority have built the most numerous and elaborate temples, or mandirs, in the country. This temple, on the border of India, is revered as the site where the goddess Sita was found in the Ramayana.

Mountain Home
Construction in rural Nepal is based on locally available materials and tools. Rural homes are generally built of stone, wood, bamboo, and mud. This Gurung home, in the stunning village of Ghandrung, was photographed in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Returning from the fields, this Rai woman has just delivered a snack to her working family. Perhaps some steamed chayote squash and local alcohol, the bottle is seen poking its top from the edge of her bamboo basket.
